Occasionally I’ll ask students at the outset of practice to identify the one pose that makes them want to throw a block at their teacher. We all have at least one.

As a teacher who loves backbending, it was an interesting thought exercise that revealed an overwhelming majority of students share an extreme dislike of backbends (Ustrasana especially).
.
Now, there’s speculation that people avoid backbending because it puts them in a vulnerable position. (Oh, no, my exposed heart, don’t pierce with your blade or words!)
.
Personally, I think it’s more practical: most people are just tired as hell by the time they practice backbends, which generally arrive at the close of practice.

If you’re one of those people who has to resist pulling the fire alarm when you sense backbends, why don’t you start your practice next time with a few mild backbends and see if you have the same feelings.

I was doing tarot cards yesterday and I got the Death card, followed by a "dramatic situation" card, and "trouble ahead"~
I don't see tarot as a way of predicting the future, I just like it because it helps me connect with my own intuition. But in this case it gave me anxiety all day about some kind of impending doom~
Since I've made the decision to walk away from anything that doesn't foster my wellbeing, I'm going to put down the tarot for a while!~
