The Dope Kitchen Story.
A friend #InRecovery
came up with the name “Dope Kitchen” for a cooking show after one of our many conversations about food and cooking. I let the idea marinate for some time, I wasn’t sure if I wanted another social media account for which I was responsible, nor did I have the expertise necessary to start a successful YouTube channel. (Still don’t 😆).
Fast forward a few months... Duane and I discussed the matter, he wanted in, which worked out because my other friend couldn’t be my cohost.
Later on, @homielane joined to help us with videography. Now we are 3.
We started the channel with the hopes of helping those in recovery to find affordable, accessible, and tasty foods and meals to improve recovery outcomes. #Nutrition
alone may not keep you sober, but it’s definitely a tool in the box that can help. Proper nutrition provides the body with the materials it needs to create hormones, neurotransmitters, and other compounds that have been affected by harmful substance use and a general, unhealthy diet. Quality lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, fiber rich foods, and probiotics all play a role and are beneficial not only in the diet of somebody recovering from substance use disorder, but for the general public as well. Duane and I bring you foods that incorporate those healthy components along with a dose of laughter and sometimes heavy reality. Give it a watch. Maybe you’ll learn something. Maybe it will help. At a minimum, you’ll at least get a laugh. From Duane of course, I’m just the 🤓! Check us out on YouTube. 🙏
