• Fast-paced, brutal instrumental
• Screeching synth presence (hard trap influences)
• Subtle hints to 90s Rave music
Party-starters are an absolute essential for any gig, and LA-based luminary DJ/Producer Henry Fong has created just the kick-starter. Released on the reputed label of Skink, “Rave Tool” rattles with raw-energy and aggression. We will be divulging about the vigorous production, and how it manages to impress with its rather striking approach.
Recently unveiling his vibrant EP “Fong Island”, the aforementioned artist effectively experiments with Moombahton and Reggae vibes along with shuffling Dance music components. Earlier this year, he also collaborated with leading solo-act Deorro, revealing the joint effort known as “Pica”. Today’s subject deviates away from the laid-back sound of his recent works, and adopts the festival-convenient BPM structure, assisted with fuming synth-lines.
Presenting the frenzy atmosphere, and a somewhat funky tone, “Rave Tool” starts with an unexpected pizzazz. With a jabbing presence, almost cartoon-ish, the melody hook is presented by a whirring synth. With hints of 90’s hardcore embedded in the schematics, the drop segment proceeds with a radical alacrity. Be it the riff-raff of the screeching synths, or the swift movements of the kick and percussion, this particular section storms with potency and dynamism requisite! I smell some heavy hard trap influences in the segment (reminding me of SAYMYNAME), combined with that 90’s touch… Providing an efficient and entertaining “rave tool“! In a few words, “Rave Tool” reminisces the days when dance-floor used to be hectic until the sunrise, booming with music befitting the ebullient culture of raving.
