“I’m more focused on giving solutions and inspiration more than anything.” @nipseyhussle
This part of the lecture I get in deep about the snowball effect of unfortunate events that happen to me through my journey and let the students know (especially the men) that it’s nothing wrong with going or receiving therapy, it’s nothing wrong with you being vulnerable because vulnerability equates to strength.
Research shows (mentalhealthAmerica.net) that 8.3% of African American teenagers are more than likely to attempt suicide. African American men are not open with admitting they have psychological problems or exposed to traumas whether through witnessing or direct victimization which is often a daily reality for black males. Findings from this reviews suggest that 56-76% of black males exposed to traumatic events may have an unmet need for mental health services
It’s time to break the generational curse. It’s time to educate our Kings about expressing themselves and it’s time for us to change the narrative. Don’t just stay woke but stay informed as well. Any King going through storms right now behind closed doors just know you are not alone and you are loved and you are appreciated. I’m here fighting that battle with you and letting you know that you will survive and your will be a success story to others. Furthermore, therapy is something personal so don’t use the term as a platform for likes, use it as a platform for healing.
It’s Time!!!! Part 2 of 4
