I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE… *

I love both, yoga and fashion. Although the two are worlds apart, they both provide me with an outlet for creative expression, a break from everyday stress and a reminder to be playful & not take life so seriously. *

Before I started YOOM, I used to compartmentalize my life… I had, on one side: my entrepreneurial, 'bangs down' (my signature look) & stylish life in the city, and on the other: my yogi, 'bangs clipped up’ and chakra-opening life on the mat. The two rarely met… in fact, I made it a point to downplay them in front of each other - as a result, it left me feeling truncated in both. *

This is where YOOM comes in… Here, I let the two worlds co-exist (along with others like food and interior design) to find my own sense of well. Until now, I’ve had a wellness practice that’s uniquely mine and yes, not perfect… I often sequence pranayama breathing exercises with a drink with friends, I wear heels for going to yoga class, I compete with myself & others on the mat (sacrilege!), I look elegant but also talk about poop on a first date (ayurveda does that to ppl!) and I thrive to take healthy decisions only 80% rather than 100% of the time. *

I used to think that made me an impostor but now I understand it just makes my wellness practice uniquely personal. *

It’s a sacred time of year coming into the seasonal shift of Fall studded by the Equinox on Monday. The environment we are in plays an important role in our health. If there is comfort, ease, clarity and joy and the senses feel nourished, our whole body feels it. Rose received a few offerings aimed in this direction including aligning color and texture to mimic the trees and landscape around us here in Oregon. All the stones went out for bathing in the Fall moon rains. Low, cozy lighting was added to nurture the sense of grounding needed for the season ahead. Water offering in the NE corner to honor abundance, emotional stability and the rains ahead.  Outside a joyous fanfare of color meant to deepen my love and honor of the outdoor kingdom.  And last but not least, hours of burning resins and flowers collected over this year to clean and clear anything unneeded and to step into the season ahead in a clear, loving heart.  All elements are honored here.
