I have slowly started to learn how to not just take photos, but to take photos with meaning and perspective. When I was shooting with @gmlphotog Not to long ago, he took my up to this bridge and I got an instant reminder of a feeling I use to have.
The first time I moved away from Buffalo was something I’ll never forget. I was moving to Pittsburgh to start mortuary school. An 18 year old, moving about a funeral home and working for them, in a brand new city, with no friends from back home coming with me, no family down there, going to school on top of it, the whole 9 yards. Now you would think having your parents come down to visit would be a nice thing....for me not so much. One of the only times my parents came down to visit, I literally told them to not come back till graduation because when I saw them hop in the car to start driving back to Buffalo, I knew they were going home and I wasn’t. You see, Buffalo has always been home to me. From wings and roast beef, Bills and Sabres, from South Buffalo to Hamburg and everything in between, this is all I knew and loved. Pittsburgh provided me with so much opportunity in my professional career, but nothing beats being here at home. .
So if you’re someone who feels stuck, trapped, can’t find a way out, just keep on pushing and fighting to be who you want to be in life. When I looked through the fence, my ticket home was only an arms length away. .
