INGREDIENTS
1 cups coconut water

One of my all time favorite yoga asana is this variation of the Extended Child’s Pose, especially during Pregnancy and Postpartum.

During pregnancy I loved how it took the pressure of my spine (I’m 40 weeks in this photo), it opened up through my lower back, calmed my central nervous system helping me to sleep each night or if I woke in the night I would do this in bed and it helped to relive any gas as my organs got pushed around making room for a baby.

I love it for postpartum because it opens up through my back and shoulders, especially my lower and upper back as it gets so sore from breastfeeding, carrying Luna and using the carrier. At the end of a long day I do this pose before bed and it seriously calms my racy central nervous system and mind so quickly which helps me to sleep even though it doesn’t take much for me to sleep right now!

So why should everyone practice this amazing pose?
• releases congested energy, allowing energy to flow freely through the spine.
• calms the central nervous system.
• soothes and settles the mind.
• separates and aligns vertebrae.
• releases pent up emotions.
• releases tension through shoulders.
• tones pelvic muscles.

Also make sure the chi (energy) can easily flow around objects.  Bring in the elements of nature into your room with colour and texture.  Hang pictures you love and that inspire you. I get all over the place when on my moon cycle. Practicing a very slow asanas flow helps me a lot. But I recently found out that playing singing bowls really relaxes my body it’s not just the sound of it but the act it self and the bowl vibrations on my hand just make it all relaxing. I now also use a few crystals for meditation when I’m on pms and when the cramps are hitting and man it really works. Here I was sound energising the stones and also relaxing my body in one go 🙌🏾 Honestly gotta love holistic therapies they really really work. In need of second round now 🌿
