IT IS WRONG TO THINK THAT THE LACK OF STRENGTH IS NOT A HEALTH PROBLEM – PART 1 "There is currently sufficient scientific evidence to assert that strength training is an effective method for preventing, treating and potentially reversing various chronic diseases. Indeed, adherence to a properly designed strength training program can significantly increase the physical and mental health of the population.

The importance is such that several world-renowned organizations (World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Heart Association, American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, American College of Sports Medicine) recommend this form of training for maintain health." Porridge toppers such as nuts turn a slow release energy into a nutrition bomb at breakfast.
3 reasons to add nuts to your diet:
Nuts contain antioxidants known as polyphenols, which may protect your cells and “bad” LDL cholesterol from damage caused by free radicals.

Research suggests that nuts may reduce inflammation, especially in people with diabetes, kidney disease, and other serious health conditions.

Nuts may significantly lower your risk of heart attack and stroke. Eating nuts increases “bad” LDL particle size, raises “good” HDL cholesterol, improves artery function, and has various other benefits.

So we're onto the B vits next, in our nutrient review.

What do we need B1 for?

We need B1 to burn carbs. Those who have glucose regulating issues, will be good to ensure aren't deplete of vitamin B1, which often accompanies other B complex deficiencies.

When you are low in B1, carbs aren't burned properly, and glucose doesn't go to the brain and nerves.

Therefore, other symptoms include tingly/numb/burning hands and feet, weak muscles, irregular heart beats, and a terrible memory and brain fog.

Severe thiamine deficiency can lead to paralysis, convulsions and death. A real shame if not diagnosed properly!

This happens more commonly in gut diseases, persistent vomiting, liver disease, alcohol abuse, and those on very low carb diets.

Here are the top sources of thiamine: 100g of Beans and pulses, or 2 heaped teaspoons of nutritional yeast.

And the ideal dose is 100mg 2-3 times daily. It is considered a very safe supplement.

ⓟⓐⓡⓣⓨ ⓢⓔⓐⓢⓞⓝ ⓢⓝⓐⓒⓚⓢ⁣ What will you be snacking on this party season? ⁣

With the party season just around the corner, the holidays are all about indulging in sweet treats and savoury snacks as we think of brightly coloured foil wrapped chocolates, pastries and the like. And that's ok! Really, because no one wants to deprive themselves or restrict themselves fully, it's not realistic! There's nothing wrong with loosening dietary standards this time of the year. ⁣
⁣
Instead, just by adopting a few sensible principles especially at the buffet table, is a great way to maintain a sense of normality:⁣
⁣
🌟ensure that your are not stepping out empty. Have a little snack before you go out so you don't arrive wanting to devour everything you see on the buffet table. A combination of some protein and carbs is sensible. ⁣
⁣
🌟 at the buffet table, have a wander around before you put anything on your plate. Just by getting a sense of what is on offer, helps you to avoid mindlessly loading up the plate⁣
⁣
🌟make room for the veggies and salads - think of colour and textures. Leafy greens, crunchy salads! ⁣
⁣
🌟once you've mindfully selected your food, STEP AWAY from the food table. Again, it makes it harder to mindlessly reach for the food as you chatter. ⁣
⁣
🌟before reaching out for seconds, allow a little time as it takes a while for the stomach to get the "I'm full" signal from the brain. Really tune into whether you want more - check in with your appetite gauge.⁣
⁣
Just a few simple tricks really can make a difference 😉⁣

Diets are often 'used' to lose weight. The notion that the body is just a thermodynamics equation is adopted and for a period this may play out until such a time when the body has had enough of deprivation and wants nourishment.
🍇
To deprive ourselves in a bid to love ourselves is completely counterintuitive.
This isn't 'A Way of Life' that is sustainable nor is it any way 'To Live Ones Life'.
🍇
Diet is not something you do as a means to and end. Diet is something you embrace for the means as you watch the end merge with it.
🍇
For this to work we need to be doing it for the right reason with the right approach. For ourselves and not in spite of ourselves.
🍇
Words set our intentions, they cast spells for us to perform actions, so to use words correctly with true understanding of their meaning is to utilise their full potential.

Bloated like a balloon?? Here are a few common root causes:
👉Gluten and dairy are common food sensitivities / intolerances. 👉So too are high FODMAP foods like beans, garlic and onion - especially if you have a bacterial overgrowth.
👉SIBO stands for a small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and frequent bloating is a common symptom. 👉Dysbiosis is an imbalance in the microbes (bacteria, fungi, parasites etc) in the body. Some microbes are beneficial, some are not. 👉H. Pylori is an example of a bacteria that is not beneficial. 👉Though excess amounts of even beneficial bacteria aren’t the best either. 👉A comprehensive stool analysis can give you an idea of the health of your gut microbiome. 👉Low stomach acid means you don’t digest your food properly, which can lead to bloating. (Zinc and certain B vitamins are needed to make stomach acid). 👉H. Pylori can lower stomach acid levels and cause peptic ulcers. 👉If you have a “leaky” gut, you also put extra stress on your liver. Your liver produces bile which is critical for digestion and absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins in the small intestine.

Just a quick summary - but if you want more info you can find it at...

Despite all the health benefits of a high fibre diet, intakes still remain poor in Ireland. According to the National Adult Nutrition Survey (NANS) which took place from 2008-2010, the average daily intake of Irish men and women was 19.2g, which is less than what’s recommended. I am seriously obsessed with the vaginal microbiome! Why? Because so many women have vaginal issues, and aren't getting the proper treatment they need. I was one of them!!! (Sorry hubby, he always says I 'overshare', haha!). 🙊
🌱
The three biggest issues stem from: Candida overgrowth (thrush), Bacterial dysbiosis (Bacterial Vaginosis or Group B Strep infection), and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STI's). 🌱
To get an indication of what might be going on, I usually start out with a simple Vaginal pH Test. The vagina should be acidic - if it becomes alkaline, this means you have bacterial dysbiosis. If it is acidic, yet you are showing symptoms, it is likely that you have thrush or an STI. From there, further testing is needed to determine the type of vaginal pathogen.
🌱
Knowing what we are dealing with is critical in order to treat properly. And YES you absolutely CAN TREAT THE VAGINA NATURALLY. In fact, there are some research articles to show that natural treatment can be more effective then, say, antibiotics. 🌱
