Fennel or mishi in Ayurveda. An absolute fave in my kitchen. Fennel is tridoshic as it pacifiers V, P and K, and cooling to the body. It relieves digestive complaints and detoxifies the blood. Add to curries and stews, or toast a few seeds to chew on after your meal. My new obsession is fennel milk where I step 1tsp in coconut milk, strain and sip with some honey. Delicious 馃尶鉁

For those of you who know me personally, you may or may not know I鈥檝e had 鈥渃hronic鈥 asthma since I was a baby. I鈥檝e never let this stop me from getting medals and ribbons as a young girl in end of year carnival school running races! 馃じ馃従鈥嶁檧锔 Being part of volleyball and swim teams in high school, teaching high intensity aerobics throughout university and always riding my bike every summer...everywhere for as long as I can remember! 猸愶笍猸愶笍猸愶笍 I will even say I made up my mind when I was 18yrs old that I wasn鈥檛 going to be an asthmatic and pretty much got rid of 98% of my symptoms for about 15 yrs: taking my emergency inhaler only when needed! I was still considered an asthmatic even though my lifestyle didm鈥檛 allow for it !!! 馃グ 
Then the symptoms came back. So, my adventures in holistic medicine began. - Enter becoming an Ayurvedic Practitioner 猸愶笍 Cranio Sacral Therapist 猸愶笍 Breathwork Facilitator 猸愶笍 Essential Oil advocate and can once again, I鈥檇 say that I鈥檓 almost where I was when I was 18 yrs old! 馃じ馃従鈥嶁檧锔忦煓忦煆金煠葛煆锯嶁檧锔 Here I am taking a sputum test - testing for the type of inflammation my body creates.

Your tongue says a lot about what is going on in your body. 
The organs in the body relate to different areas on your tongue. Redness/soreness/bumps could be telling you that there is a problem. A thick coating on the tongue is a sign of ama (toxins) in the body possibly from illness or bad diet. 
Each dosha (body type) also has its own qualities. 
Vata
A vata tongue would be small, narrow and thin with an irregular tip. The coating on the tongue would be more grey/brown in colour towards the back. When out of balance it can get dry, have cracks in and teeth indentations (a sign of malabsorption of vitamins). Pitta
A pitta tongue would be broad at the base and tapers to a point. Red at the sides with red bumps and if out of balance, ulcerations. It would be moist with a yellowish coating down the middle. 
Kapha
A Kapha tongue is large, round and thick. There would be a lot of moisture and the colour would be pale. The coating would be all over and white in colour.

After waking up, splashing our face, washing our eyes, rinsing  out our mouth with water are common morning routine for many of us.

Adding something like filling mouth with water and holding for a few seconds with eyes closed. Spit it out and repeat 2-3 times. Followed by rotating eyes from side to side, in both the directions, up and down is a healthy routine for eyes.

Nidra or Sleep is one of the three pillars of life - no doubt. Adequate sleep and rest is essential to body function, clear thinking and energetic connection. It's become the norm for people to lack sleep. There's a number of causes of this: working/scheduling, anxiety/worry, body discomfort and just staying up too late with distractions (netflix, IG!, etc.). The body needs this critical time to reset; the brain needs to detox and the digestive system needs the natural state of fasting to get clean. Make time for sleep; 7 hours minimum, 8 hours preferred. 鈦

Vata people or those with Vata imbalance may have trouble going to sleep or awaken during the night with physical or mental discomfort.
