Broccoli is the most easy to digest of the cabbage family and can reduce inflammation in your body. The high level of antioxidants and fiber supports the blood sugar control and aids digestion and elimination.
In addition broccoli has a protective effect on brain tissue and increases your ability to focus. It supports a healthy immune response and can brighten the eyes.

Spring and early fall are the only appropriate times to detox, in my opinion. It’s great because the harsh changes allow us to purge and expel things from our body and mind that no longer serve us. 
Yet when people detox, all they focus on is the detox. Perhaps that sounds normal, but what about tonification? If you don’t balance the purifying with tonifying, you will 💯 feel depleted and uninspired at the end of your cleanse. Maybe a few pounds lighter, but not the long term kind.

Tonification means adding strength and nourishment back to the body.

This Quinoa salad bowl with a mustard olive oil dressing is doing just that for me, cleansing and also toning. Pure, fresh, whole.

Searching for a tasty and nutritious midday or after school snack? Rich in calcium, iron, zinc, and potassium figs are the special ingredients in these home-made Fig or Date Bars. Ayurveda regards figs and dates as nourishing, energy-giving, structure-building fruits. And they can help support elimination! 
What you need:
1 ½ cups packed chopped figs or dates
⅔ cup apple juice
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 ¾ cups unbleached white or whole wheat flour
½ cup ground nuts
½ cup wheat germ
2 tablespoons arrowroot or cornstarch
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons raw or brown sugar
⅓ cup melted ghee or butter
2 tablespoons water

Preheat the oven to 400℉. Butter a 9-inch square baking pan.
To prepare the filling: Simmer the figs or dates, apple juice, sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan for 10 minutes. Purée in a food processor or mash with a fork.
To prepare the dough: While the filling is cooking, combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add the melted ghee or butter and the water. Mix to a crumbly dough with your fingers.
To assemble: Press half the dough evenly in the pan. Spread the fruit filling evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the remaining dough over the filling to completely cover it.
Bake until lightly browned, 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool thoroughly and cut into squares.
