Don’t get me wrong, my autoimmune disease does 𝐧𝐨𝐭 define me.
What I mean is…
I choose every single day to let my autoimmune disease make me:
-𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 by adopting a growth mindset and choosing to believe I can overcome the obstacles autoimmune disease brings,
-𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐫 through choosing gratitude and joy over bitterness and anger,
-𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫 (yes, healthier!) by eating better than I ever have, and developing lifestyle and mindset habits that help me feel better
(most days!) than I remember ever feeling.
Are you with me on this??
Do you choose to let your autoimmune disease make you, instead of break you???
If you feel like your autoimmune disease is breaking you, you are not alone.
I promise, 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝒶𝓁𝑜𝓃𝑒.
I was there too.
My autoimmune disease broke me for a bit.
I felt 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 physically, emotionally, and mentally.
I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
It took time, patience, and hard work to learn how to live well and find joy with autoimmune disease, but I pinky promise it is possible.
Not easy, but 𝓅𝑜𝓈𝓈𝒾𝒷𝓁𝑒.
It continues to take me time, patience, and hard work to keep living well and finding joy.
Please know I am cheering you on 𝗦𝗢 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱!
I believe your autoimmune disease can make you stronger, happier, and healthier too!
The hero you are so desperately seeking has been 𝒾𝓃𝓈𝒾𝒹𝑒 you

Hello from sunny California! So I’ve been learning to honor my personal resilience by giving gratitude for my journey and the people who are here with me. ⠀
The truth is I’m grateful for the hard stuff. As much as it sucks and I hate it, it’s still a privilege to be here. It’s the hard stuff that makes me more me in this world. Humbles me. Makes me breathe deeper. Love more. Connect with others.
So I want to thank you for being here, witnessing me. Witnessing Monika. Cheering us on and lifting us up as we heal. Connecting with us. Sharing your own trials and wins. We see you. ✨ Know that the hard stuff is the fire that burns it all down...and the ash is a beautiful pile of shimmering possibility. ❤️ Love, Monica ⠀

Non scale victory number two this week, being able to see my collar bones again! Yay!!
How many of us struggle with accepting ourselves as we are? Right now, in this moment.
I know I do. I have a running list in my head of all the things I need to do/be to not only be acceptable to myself, but to others as well.
I need to be less shy.
I need to lose weight.
I need to perform perfectly at my job.
I need to say the right thing, at the right time.
I need to be willing to be vulnerable.
The list goes on and on. One way that I silence these thoughts is to listen to Come As You Are by Crowder.
"So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
Lay down your hurt lay down your heart
Come as you are"
If you struggle with similar feelings, I encourage you to lay them down. Clear your mind. Breathe in. Breathe out. Know that you are acceptable, just as you are.
And, if you'd like to share, I'd love to hear what helps you to silence your negative self talk. 💕
It's the experience of coming to a doctor because you know something is wrong with your body, and having them tell you, "You're too young to be this sick," or "It's just anxiety/stress," or "Maybe you're obsessing about your symptoms to much,"or "chronic pain is just a normal part of being female."⠀
It's that drop in your stomach when they tell you you're fine, as you're becoming more disabled by the day. It's the disappointment you feel when you come to the doctor looking for blood tests and imaging, but you're offered only antidepressants.⠀
Have you experienced medical gaslighting?? Share your story in the comments, and check out my latest blog post on The Mighty, "Defining Medical Gaslighting and Spotting the Red Flags"... link in Bio.⠀ #chronicillness #chronicpain #autoimmunedisease

Baby Blankets- are you a traditional pastel person or do you like the more modern variations? I like both myself. When a request came in for a boy baby blanket I knew this ultra-soft, self stripping yarn I snagged from @hobbylobby was perfect 👌🏻 There is no filter on this!! LOOK 👀 at the color! ⭐️
Blankets take awhile, and I have been unable to move or crochet bc of my health lately. I hope that is soon about to change. The antibiotics seem to be working for now. I am still on the antiFungal. I see the Rheumatologist in Austin for the second time on Monday to decide the new treatment plan. Lord willing, I will get into remission somehow. I refuse to give up. I refuse. Yes, it’s been over four years of constant battle, and trauma, and burden, but I won’t give up. HE will bring me out of this. I will taste relief some day. ⭐️
Are you battling a trauma? An illness? An obstacle? It doesn’t have to be health related! Introduce yourself below👇🏻 and let me share your burden or triumph! .

3 years. Yesterday marked 3 years since I was diagnosed with scleroderma. It may seem odd to celebrate such an occasion but the anniversary has become a reminder to myself of how far I have come.
I’ve learned how to say no, how to take better care of myself, how to pause and slow down. I’ve made self care a priority and have learned to accept that I cannot do it all.
It hasn’t been easy and some days are really hard. But I’ve learned to find my strength in God, to pray and to reflect when times get challenging. Reflection is such a powerful tool in gaining perspective.
The journey is far from over and I am still learning everyday; learning how to love myself again, how to not compare myself to others, and how to live my life on my own terms. I’m working on giving myself more grace and I am continuing to learn how to live without fear.
I am so grateful everyday just to be here. Having a chronic illness has showed me how the power of gratitude can really change any situation, you just have to let it. Scleroderma has shown me that we all face battles but when we put our faith in God and believe in the story God is writing for our life he will continue to show that he has more in store for our story. He’s still writing mine, and I’m placing my faith in his hands.
Here’s to 3 years, but more importantly, here’s to many more!

Here is a coaching call from one of our clients who came to us with multiple symptoms: bloating, loose stools, nutrient deficiencies, PCOS, trauma from past surgeries, adrenal fatigue, dizziness, bruising, high cholesterols, tingling, food allergies.
Nicole came to us feeling sick for years. In spite of all the things she lost, how much pain she was in during her recovery, and how exhausted she was, she was a positive sprit who encouraged everyone in our 1-1 coaching group even while she was struggling with getting herself healthy.
Something that I love about Nicole is that, in spite of years of suffering, she never stopped believing in her heart there was a path to healing besides taking medications or supplements.
The medications made her feel terrible, so she went to functional doctors and naturopaths but they didn’t have answers for her.
She started trying all kinds of nutritional plans (juicing, all kinds of diets and supplements, and nothing worked at all until she found our webinar, went to our class, scheduled a call and jointed our program.
She is amazing, committed and she’s still going strong. I hope you are seeing what is possible for you.
What we do on our program is we customize a nutritional plan for them based on a proven process (no herbs or supplements) and make adjustments based on their individual progress and results. We help them overcome their cravings and self sabotage, and help them get their health and life back.
In this program, we work with people daily on their nutrition and provide support, education, coaching to insure they get the best possible results in six weeks.
People get better at different rates and different days, depending on their symptoms, their illness, their dedication and commitment to recovery.
Our program is only for people who are ready for it and are coachable. In order to get results you have to be honest with us, you have to be willing to follow our nutritional instructions - even if it doesn’t makes sense, even if your doctor doesn’t agree with it, even if google doesn’t agree with it. 👇👇👇continue reading below 👇👇👇
Living my best life. Doing things I never dreamed of and going places I never thought I could.
👉🏼Follow the link in my bio to learn more about each of these ingredients and find out how you can fit them into your diet!👍🏼 👩🏼⚕️Many people are startled to learn the fruits and vegetables grown today are actually not as nutritious as they once were. In fact, they are much less rich in vitamins and minerals, in some cases with reductions as great as 40% or more!
How did this happen?
The modern cultivation practices used by the massive companies known together as agribusiness focus on speeding growth, increasing size, and improving pest resistance. Increases in yield that are produced by fertilization, as well as other environmental means, tend to decrease the concentrations of minerals in plants. This is called the “dilution effect.”2 Furthermore, while modern agriculture has increased the food supply, making more food available for more people, in the process it has also stripped the nutrients from the soil in which our food grows. This is called soil depletion, and every new season of crops grown actually increases the problem.
CLC MEMBER FEATURE: Hey everyone!! My name is Katie, I’m 20 years old & I’m from the U.S.! 21 months ago my whole life fell apart - but now I realize that it was starting to fall apart way before then. I never thought of myself as a ‘sick kid’ or ‘chronically ill’ & to some degree I still don’t think that - I just think of myself as Katie, a normal girl who happens to get sick more often/more severely.
When I was 10 I was hospitalized for a week & diagnosed with PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with strep throat @pandasnetworkofficial ). Basically, when I get strep throat my immune system gets confused & instead of attacking the strep germs it attacks my brain & causes inflammation (like AE.. watch ‘Brain on Fire’ :). It attacks a specific part of the brain called the basal ganglia which is responsible for motor functions & emotions. So when this part of the brain suddenly becomes inflamed it causes an onset of psychiatric symptoms like OCD, anxiety, depression, etc. & can cause tics. My PANDAS eventually turned into PANS, meaning now it’s not only triggered by strep, but any illness.
For the next 8 years, it was manageable. when I got sick, I was just sick for longer & had it harder - we called it flares. But ‘flare’ took on a whole new meaning when I got sick with lyme disease 21 months ago. It started with a seizure & then turned into ambulance rides, hospital stays, spinal taps, MRIs, CTs, EEGs, EKGs, appts, lab work & almost 2 years of pure hell. But since getting my picc line in January, I’ve slowly started feeling like healthy Katie again & can’t wait to reach remission.
It’s not easy - lyme or PANDAS. But knowing that I’ve already faced some of my toughest battles brings me peace. I’ve learned so much & gotten stronger. I know that the rest of my life will consist of ‘flares’ to some degree, but that will only make me appreciate the healthy moments more. I will love hard, wonder endlessly & laugh often. Chronic illnesses are awful, but I hope in some way you will all find peace in these wars 💛

Sometimes on rough times in life we just have to stop and see the beauty. Last week was an extremely hard week both mentally, emotionally and physically but still we press on. I was reminded we are not guaranteed a perfect stress free life but we don’t have to let it destroy us. We have to look for rainbow after the storm. The promise that although it doesn’t feel like it, it will pass. When you are trying to change your world and make it better, there is going to be pushback. But God is good and his promise is true. This week also showed me 1st hand how blessed I’m am to have this business because when everything went crazy last week, the money I have earned in my business, helped us stay afloat. I stood on his promise from that rainbow and I am seeing that promise now!
I tend to gauge my weight loss less on what the scale reads and more on how my clothes fit and how I’m moving.
I purchased these jeans off eBay awhile ago and they’ve been sitting in my closet until today. I needed a pair of jeans this morning because of a bar we were going to for breakfast and some football. I always get cold there, hence jeans. I put on six pair of jeans, all too big. Then saw these with sparkles and embroidery and put them on. Perfect fit!! Smaller size! Great NSV!

Today marks the end of Phase 1 of my 100 day program!
It took more than 20 days but who gives a shit? Life happens.
That’s the beauty of this program! You follow it on your own time. Get sick? Need a rest day? Take it.
The calendar is meant as a guide so you’re not spinning your wheels in the gym trying to figure out what to do next. It’s all laid out for you. And you have the ability to switch days if you need to. Cardio too much, do yoga. Feel like you wanna lift, pump some iron.
This program will get you results no matter which order you do the work in or if you take a day or two off in between. It is designed for your life.
I’m starting Phase 2, but I still have a few open spots for you to start in September! And if you act now you can save $30.
Grab your spot in my group and make this program work for you and your life! You’re worth it!
Throw a 🎉 in the comments to join because this program is not only fun, but a celebration of your health!

Day 27/100! All about them lower body assets!!! I’m not lifting as heavy as I normally would, I’m not moving as quickly as I normally would, but still showing up regardless! Lots of time under tension in these moves today and STILL feeling this one (even hours later)! 😱 #weekendwarrior
Ever since I was in high school I was known to be particular about how I look. Teased quite a bit from family and friends. Then I became a mom and had 7 kids and still I never lost the desire to be put together.
Now I am 55 and my children are all gone out of the nest and I maintain my love of looking good.
However one Big thing has changed.
After much research for my autoimmune disease Hashimoto's I found that all those years I was hurting my endocrine system with endocrine disruptors found in all makeup.
These past 2 years I have cleaned up my makeup drawers with completely toxic free makeup. A matter of fact "They are the Standard in Clean Beauty" with a pledge of over 2500 chemicals as a standard they will never ever use. Never.
Ask your makeup company what their Standard is. I guarantee you you will not find this integrity because in the USA there are only 11 chemicals that by regulation a company can leave out and then call themselves "toxic free" hmmmm not impressive.
In Europe there Standard is 1500 hmmm still better but not impressive.
I dont want any. Period.
Go ahead check out Savvy Minerals makeup by Young Living see for yourself.
They are my choice and I bet my health on it.
Have a wonderful weekend!❤️
I am off to attend a monthly gathering with spirit – to enjoy healing sounds of gongs, bowls and flutes and guided meditation. 😇
What are your plans for the weekend? Any TLC planned for you?💕 .
To sweeten your day😊
Chocolate Pudding (Avocado Mousse) – Paleo
I love chocolate, and I love avocado! And sometimes I have a sweet tooth ☺
Dairy-free means this is not a ‘real’ chocolate pudding, but this comes close in taste.
The advantage of this dessert: it doesn’t contain refined sugar and provides a healthy source of fat. .
Ingredients (serves 4): - 2 Large Avocados - 4 Tbsp Raw Cocoa powder
- ½ cup Almond Milk - 1 Tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1/3 cup Monkfruit Sweetener (or a corresponding amount of Stevia)
- Pinch of Salt
Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor until completely smooth. Decorate with strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, raspberries, or a fruit of your choice. Enjoy.😊
Can we talk about how difficult this is? Major lifestyle changes feel like a never, ending uphill climb. Some days it’s okay to mourn your old life, and the life you thought you’d have. Change takes time. Physically adjustments. Emotional adjustments. And it’s okay to say this isn’t easy. 💜💪🏽

Multivitamin is 50% OFF this weekend👉🏼 link in bio!
I'm celebrating my 50th birthday with you guys by helping you reach your health goals! The Myers Way Multivitamin is one that I recommend to EVERYBODY! I truly believe that everyone should be taking a multivitamin on a daily basis!
For optimal health, you must get all the essential nutrients your body requires to function. You must also guard against mineral and vitamin deficiencies, the most common of which are deficiencies in vitamin B-6, vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin B-12, and iron.
Follow the link in my bio to learn more about the benefits of adding a multivitamin to your diet!
At least once a decade, my body decides it needs to throw a new painful and debilitating monkey wrench into the picture and COMPLETELY dumbfound my doc. Due to the severe & unexplainable allergic reaction I had last Sunday, I am on lots of prednisone and an extremely restricted diet. Culinary skills are pretty useless when you can’t be creative with flavors. Sigh.
Here’s to the prednisone continuing to bring me back to “normal”, this boring menu keeping me alive and hopefully solving this medical mystery exponentially faster than the last two. #autoimmunewarrior #medicalmystery #thoughtiwasdone

So what is causing this outpouring of gluten sensitivity? Is it the glyphosate in our food supply or the actual gluten?
Glyphosate, which is found in products like #roundup
, binds to gluten
In normal conditions, Gluten usually forms connection between different amino acids in grain
Glyphosate disrupts the binding, which causes the gluten to stay in a form that is more allergenic
Glyphosate also inhibits CYP450 enzymes which play a critical role in detoxification pathways in our body
In other words, some people may be reacting more to the effects of glyphosate than they are to gluten
This is an emerging topic with incomplete data and possibility significant consequences
BUT… being in Europe where there is a clear difference in food supply and how grains are grown and processed I don’t experience the same issues as in the United States… this makes me sad and frustrated all at the same time!
How many of you have had similar experiences?

Just checking in before our afternoon outing - my greens routine fell off slightly when we were getting our new floors done, but I’m back at it! 💪🏻 got this bad boy in before my morning workout. This #smoothierecipe

Research. This is something we patients have to learn how to do.
I know it seems intimidating to some of you, and others often make fun of "Dr. Google", but this is a really important step in advocating for the care you need.
We need to do our own research every step of the way - before diagnosis, after diagnosis, testing, treatments. It may not be fair, but it is necessary.

Can I be honest?
I am really struggling right now. Waiting to see a specialist about the widespread pain and tendonitis in my hands and arms is wearing on me. Not painting as much as I'd like to (or at all the past week or so) is wearing on me. Not being able to cook or wash my hair or use my phone without making the pain worse is wearing on me. Happy Saturday beautiful people!☀️
Went for a walk this morning and it was so nice to just enjoy the cooler breeze and the sunshine. I’ve been finding that simple movement, like walks, is what my body has been wanting lately. No crazy, sweaty workouts. Its OKAY if your body isn’t up for that or if you’re not able to do that right now. Do what’s best for YOU. And for me, that’s been light and simple movement. It’s easy to compare, especially on social media, and I used to get so caught up in what everyone around me was doing. I finally got tired of putting myself down because of all I couldn’t and wasn’t doing. Just a reminder that you are you and not anyone else! And that is the best thing you can be.🤗
Cheers to our unique and worthy selves! Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend!💛

Weekends are sometimes full of errands 🤨 So I don’t leave the house without these staples in my purse: ✅ Thieves roller to keep my immune system healthy
✅ Digize for immediate relief anytime my stomach acts up
✅ Headache roller because allergies
✅ Savvy Minerals lipgloss which has no yucky chemicals, infused with peppermint essential oil and isn’t sticky
✅ A few oil cards and samples for curious friends
PS my purse is always clean and organized, I can’t stand when it’s messy (OCD much?) 😱 Is your purse organized or messy? No judgement here!
when was the last time you thanked your body for working so hard every day? 💛✨
when dealing with chronic illness, pain, etc. it’s easy to fall into the spiral of hating our bodies. speaking rude words. asking “why are you failing me?”
but we have to remember that they ARE working hard, even in the moments when it feels like they aren’t. let’s speak kindly to our bodies to support our healing ok? Okay 💛
Morning stretches. Shorter days means I get to sleep in a little before trying to catch a sunrise, making my goal of getting up and moving on the weekends a bit easier. Luna and I had a semi-pleasant walk but this city is just so crowded anymore. I don’t know about you but I want to not have people on top of me when I’m trying to find some peace and quiet. All my favorite spaces are over run now ☹️.
As promised in my stories, an new post for this morning.
This was also taken the other night when I went out with the girls to Niskonlith Lake. It's very similar to my March photograph and that's because I love trying similar compositions under different lighting and seasons. You never know which one might be 'the' shot.
Anyway, it's with a heavy heart and sadness that I need to let you know: On Wednesday morning I made this temporary change at Lee's Music permanent. Sadly I won't be returning full time, however, as we love Kamloops so much and as the team at Lee's is such a family to me, I do still want to help, so you will still see me in and around events at kamloops, just at a much reduced capacity. My rheumatologist agrees that I need a permanent change, reduced stress, no late hours, steady schedule, and cardiology mentioned at my last appointment that they really didn't want me doing too much physical labour anymore. With consistent pericarditis, complications can arise, much like an Olympic weight trainer runs the risk of developing cardiac complications. He mentioned that lifting heavy equipment day in and day out is definitely not advisable, nor is training for a marathon etc.
It really does suck having to make this call but in the end, it's for the best. What I don't want to have happen is have my health impact the quality of service the events I've come to love in and around town begin to be affected. I personally have very high standards, and while @bestsoundguyever likes that title, I never (nor will I ever) sought it, but I always aimed to be the best and bring the best to our clients. I would always tell people "I don't want to be the best, I just want to do a really good job and let you decide."

Today was many new things on a run: running with another (faster/veteran) runner, quicker starting pace than my norm, more hills than my norm, no music and talking. Let’s say I’m an introverted runner for sure but the company was nice especially to not be mugged 😂 8 was definitely a challenge, and i had to walk a little for the first time ever on a long run but I did it. There is this cool ship downtown until Tuesday for those of you who want to see it.

I have spoken a lot about how stress can lead to an imbalance in our Autonomic Nervous System and predispose us to heart attacks. This study shows that giving back to others can negate the effects of stress on mortality. For every major stressful event a person had it increased risk of death by 30%. However, those who had stressful events but also spent time helping others had a 0% increased risk of death.
